Aftercare

After the tattoo is done, you will get a medical plastic on the tattoo that preferably should stay on for a week. You don’t have to wash and cream the tattoo, and it will protect against infections. You can shower as normal, but don’t have a bath. After a week, you carefully take the plastic off; we recommend that you take it off while showering. When the plastic is off, wash the tattoo carefully with a mild soap and let it dry. The tattoo might still be a bit dry, and some skin might come off; try not to pick on it. If it is dry, you can cream it morning and evening with a mild perfume-free cream. Wash the tattoo with a mild soap before creaming it, and always wash your hands before you treat the tattoo. It is normal that the tattoo itches a bit while it heals; try not to scratch it. It is also normal that there is some liquid coming from the tattoo, which should dry up. If anything seems out of the ordinary, don’t hesitate to contact us.

It is important to remember that a tattoo is a wound that your body is working on healing. Try to get some extra rest the first couple of days, and take extra good care of yourself. If the tattoo is on your leg, try to lay your feet high for 20 minutes in the evening. We recommend that you are moderate with alcohol and don’t work out the first week after getting a tattoo. Taking a walk and having a beer or a glass of wine with dinner is of course fine, but going to the gym for a workout or getting drunk is not recommended. Also, it is not recommended to go to the swimming hall or swim in the ocean or an inland sea the first two weeks after getting a tattoo.
